What is Restylane®?

Restylane-L® is for mid-to-deep injection into the facial tissue for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds and skin that is sunken under the eyes. Restylane® is composed of hyaluronic acid, which is a substance found naturally in youthful skin. Restylane® works by replenishing the skin’s hyaluronic acid, immediately increasing volume and filling out wrinkles.

Restylane® – Starting at $600

Typically, Restylane® treatments cost around $600. Price can vary from patient to patient based on a number of factors.

Common treatment areas are:

  • Minimizing dark circles under the eyes (tear troughs)
  • Lip enhancement
  • Targeting lines around the mouth
  • Adding volume to the cheeks

Restylane® fillers are best for people who have wrinkles and volume loss in their faces as a result of natural fat loss, bone loss, or the disintegration of collagen. The FDA has provided their approval for the use of this filler for people who are over the age of 21.

People who want to look younger by getting rid of moderate and harsh lines and wrinkles can benefit from Restylane® injections. Restylane® fillers are also recommended for people who want their lips and the backs of their hands to look fuller. People with a positive outlook are the best candidates.

How does Restylane® Work?

Restylane® is injected into the skin with an ultrafine needle to plump the skin to smooth away wrinkles and folds such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds) or your lips.

It’s the preferred dermal filler for tear troughs – those heavy circles under the eyes that give the tired appearance.

During your Restylane® consultation, a skincare expert will carefully examine the skin of the treatment areas. They will also go over your complete medical history to ensure that this treatment option is right for you. This will include finding out more about any allergies and past treatments. Additionally, your skincare expert will discuss the details of the process to ensure that you understand exactly what to expect during your session.

How long does Restylane® last?

Restylane® effects generally last six months and gradually disappear from the body. If you are treated again at 4 1⁄2 or 9 months after your first treatment, Restylane® can last up to 18 months.

What Are Restylane® Results?

Like all injectable fillers, Restylane may require touch-up treatments. The duration or results vary, and your medical provider will be able to provide a more specific timeline based on your treatment.

What can I expect?

Before being treated with Restylane®, you should take a few precautions. Prior to treatment, avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements.

After Restylane injections, you may experience swelling, redness, bruising and tenderness. The majority of patients report no need for recovery time. Many patients are able to return to practically all of their regular activities relatively quickly after treatment.

It is important to remember how much filler is actually in a syringe when thinking about how much you will need to treat the areas you are concerned with. The cheeks usually range from 2-3cc per side depending on the level of fullness required for mid face lifting.
